Post subject:  Stereo Tool 7.23 BETA

BETA 723-001
Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 23-001.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 23-001.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 23-001.dll

Changes:
- Improved Stokkemask clipper; far less effect on audio (from 2 dB loss in highs to 0.7 dB)
- Added RF spectrum analyzer. Warning: Uses a lot of CPU power.
- Added option to remove demodulated L/R spikes above 100% (level is configurable).
- BS412 in composite clipper mode improved (there were some issues with the level calculations).

The RF spectrum analyzer shows small Stokkemask overshoots, I think that's only caused by the used window shape that's not 100% identical to the ones used in spectrum analyzers. Also the Stokkemask analysis requires some smoothing of the output which causes a reduced peak level, which is not implemented in the RF display in Stereo Tool. Would be nice if someone with a hardware spectrum analyzer could run a (long) test to see if there are really no Stokkemask overshoots left.

Todo:
- smart_reflect_counter==4 DONE
- aggressiveness calculation? DONE

BETA 723-003 (release candidate)
Only change vs 002 is that the 'Clip at' slider is disabled in the display if 'Clip demod peaks' is disabled.
And I replaced Brian's Cobalt preset by the latest version (separate ones for Web and Generic).

Thanks... Looks OK.

Since you synchronized them, I'll start trying to work on something using the new stuff. Probably going to have to be at reduced quality / reduced bands, as I'm starting to figure I'm going to be on this old computer for a good long while still. Haven't heard anything, and while not hearing anything is not necessarily "bad news", it does mean things will remain the same.

Request for sometime soon:

- Separate spike protection for band 1 and 2 (and 3, if keeping 3) in AGC.

You also know my opinion about updating the compiler / libraries...

I have now also fixed the bug that caused some warning messages to keep occurring after a restart.

This has 2 reasons:
1 - It's part of the Advanced Clipper (cannot run without it)
2 - It has a big effect on the audio (although it's less now in this version).
