Stereo Tool

Where is the channel delay option in 3.10? I use Stereo Tool mainly to listen to mono recordings in stereo. I upgraded from 2.05 and can't find the channel delay option. In online Help is shows the old option as if it's still in 3.10. Am I just overlooking it?

Oops - I removed it because of a lack of space... Thought no-one was using it anyway... Apparently I was wrong about that.

For now, get the 3.03 version at http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/221526 - that version still contained the channel delay.

I'll look if I can still add it somewhere (I removed it when I added the noise reduction).

Thanks for the quick response. I downloaded and installed 3.03 and I'm back in business.

One other request: when you add Channel Delay back into a new release, could you please:

1. add back a preset for it like the 2.05 release had
2. let me know when you think you'll be releasing the next version that will include these items.

As for use of Channel Delay, I have several mono recordings, either because they are old (originally on reel to reel tapes) or recent that came from mono sources (Internet, TV simulcasts, etc.). It's nice to have something simple that gives them some stereo separation, concert hall type improvement.

In Basic mode you can use "Fake Stereo". In Advanced mode you can set the channel delay.

Note: You need to turn the Stereo image processing on (it's part of the Stereo Image processing now). Also, there's no preset yet.

Hello everyone, I'm new here.

I have a question. Is the MPX from Stereo tool is real? I mean is it real the channel seperation, 'cause when I hear it on my FM receiver I get a fake stereo (delayed channels) but not the real stereo sound. Can somebody tell me where's the problem?

Getting delayed stereo instead of real stereo with MPX is actually not possible.... Could you check with the "FM Configuration" settings if - when you select "Test - right channel silence", if you do indeed get (near) silence on the right channel?

Also try "Similar, but only using 23-38 kHz" and "38-53 kHz" - if the 23-38 gives good channel separation, but 38-53 does not, your sound card is probably unable to handle the 176.4/192 kHz sampling rate.

If you do get silence but it isn't good enough, you could try changing the calibration sliders to accommodate for any differences.
