Hi Martijn,

That was one of the bugs that I mentioned in the first post... It's solved now though. (Although it still seems to occur sometimes - will have to look into that).

I've now also fixed the Low Latency mode, which sounds good now. While fixing Low Latency, I noticed that it sounded CLEANER than the normal mode. (Especially highs sounded a bit "washed out" (spread in time).). I've now changed Normal mode to be closer to Low Latency mode, which has resulted in cleaner highs AND (very surprisingly as I had expected the opposite) less distorted lows.

So the sound has improved - or if you want loudness, you can increase the loudness a bit again.

Note: I still have 10 points left on my (still growing) 25 points todo list, so there might still be a few more changes before the final version is ready.

Thanks Hans, it sounds indeed a bit cleaner now.

Another thing i noticed, the first slider of the equalizer (from the left) when i'm moving the slider i'm not hearing any difference.. the rest of the sliders are working but that one is not.. (or it could be me..) can you check that?

/Martijn

Ok, I hear what you mean. It seems to be caused by the bass sounds (if I turn the bass down, the highs sound good again).

I think I know which change in the processing is causing this, I'll have to check how to fix it without getting more distortion for other sounds...

Garfield,

I've been looking for a solution for this the entire day, and until 5 minutes ago everything I have tried failed. But now I think I have the solution. Unfortunately it's past 1 AM already and I have to go to work tomorrow, but I'll try to get a fix asap. (By the way, this distortion was also present in the 3.40 version, but it was a bit less prominent. I expect that the solution that I have found will sound better than 3.40). This solution _might_ also be useful for some other sound quality issues that I have seen - I'll have to look into that in more detail.

Well, that trumpet problem is a bit more difficult than I thought. I have found a filter that can make the trumpets sound fine, but when I use that filter I loose a lot of highs for other sounds. So I think the only solution would be to detect trumpet like sounds, and only use the new filter when trumpet like sounds are present. I think I know how to do this, but the difficulty is that I don't want to increase the CPU load or the latency too much.

The good news is that I now have a much better understanding of where certain artifacts in the Loudness filter are coming from, which might help reducing them further in the future.

Small update:
- Robotic sounds problem that sometimes occurred when switching between presets should now be completely solved.
- For FM output, the output sliders now show both the pre-emphasized (light) and de-emphasized (normal) volume. (Currently only when playing de-emphasized output without outputting the emphasized output. So it's not very useful yet, but the rest will be added).

Another small update:
- FM pre-emphasized output now always visible (also when outputting to a separate sound card)
- Final Limiter output bar is now visible. For the best sound, set it such that the dark part of the output bar remains in the green area at least most of the time.
