I'm having Windows 7 64-bit and newest winamp.

First, my Winamp and Stereo tool 4.22 worked properly. Well, for another reason, I needed to uninstall my Winamp and all its plugins and skins. I installed Winamp and Stereo tool 4.22 again.

After the reinstallation the tool doesnt seem to do anything! I can run it and change the settings, but it just doesnt recognize any sound or something. I think I also cleaned everything on my computer that relates to Stereo tool (old presets and some configuration settings).

I've been trying to seek for the way the fix this and clean everything up all over again. I dont know what to do anymore to put this awesome tool back to work again. Any help?

Hi,
Definitely is something with your windows setup or Winamp version..
Did you use same winamp version or you installed some new version?
Did you try to use wave_out output and not DirectSound output in winamp ?

Can you check if any other DSP works? I know that there were issues previously with Vista, for which I needed to fix some things in Stereo Tool. I haven't heard complaints about Windows 7 yet (well some, but they turned out to be related to other programs such as SAM Broadcaster that didn't work). Alternatively, you could try if the latest beta works - there are so many changes that if there's a bug that causes Stereo Tool 4.22 to malfunction in Windows 7, it might just work.

Latest beta (with still some bugs!) can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=853&start=590

Please let me know the result - if there is a Windows 7 problem I'll need to investigate it (and, for starters, get Windows 7...)

Well, I got the problem solved, even how stupid it sounds... The playlist I was testing it on, was full of copy-protected material ripped from normal CDs. You know the Windows' own thing that when you try to play them, a popup comes out saying "You'll need rights to bla bla..." and a button "Download rights" or something.

So, apparently the Stereo tool doesnt support copy protected music files? o_O
Maybe I should have tested it with some other music too, sorry for the confusion.. :D

Ah, that's not so strange.

DRM-protected content can only be sent through software that supports DRM. If Winamp were to send it through Stereo Tool, I could just add an option to send the input to a file and hence bypass all DRM limitations. So most likely no plugins will be used if DRM music is being played.
