Good evening all,

So, going back and forth between BBP and ST, and even though ST sounds brilliant, I have an issue. I cannot do any sort of real time monitoring.
Setup:
Quad core AMD 2.8GHZ (didn't know this was around when I put the system together)
Windows 7, 64 bit, 16GB RAM
Soundcard in use is the EMU 1616 (The breakout box partnered with the emu0404)
Using the EMU ASIO drivers. A couple of things happen. First, when activating the LQ Latency, I just get garbage. So I go to the Normal output. That works, but the delay is too much. Bringing the output buffer down to zero introduces clicks and pops.
What are the recommended settings for realtime low latency monitoring?
Thanks for any and all assistance.

Which version of Stereo Tool are you using? In 7.41, the low latency output uses the same code path as the normal output, and should sound the same (except with a lower latency, and hence also a less good audio quality). Older versions of Stereo Tool might in some cases have had issues with low latency output (although I still cannot explain 'garbage').

The LQ buffer size can be set very low, around 0.001-0.003 seconds should normally be ok (depends on your pc speed and DPC timings).

I have 7.41. Turning on LQ Low Latency just chirps garbage. Both buffers were set low, but when I increase the buffer in LQ, it crashes. Increasing the buffer on the EMU control panel does not help the garbage. By 'garbage', I mean the Normal output is clear, but LQ simply stutters.

Normal and LQ are using different EMU ASIO channels.

Crashes? As in: Stereo Tool crashes?

For the stuttering: Are you sure you have enabled ASIO for the low latency output? If so, the output buffer must be shown in green, not blue.

Crashes, as in ST fades out and a lovely dialog box informs me that ST has stopped working.
ASIO is enabled. Normal output is using ASIO output 1/2, LQ uses ASIO output 3/4. Not used by any other program.

What happens if you send normal output to ASIO outputs 3/4?

Normal works on any ASIO out I put it to.

Just got home and uninstalled the 64-bit, installed the 32-bit, same result.
The normal output works with any asio channel I assign it. LQ Latency on ASIO just gives me garbage, its not usable.

Please send me (in a PM) your preset.

Kind regards,
Hans

It works without any issues here :(
So I really don't know what's happening (yet).
