I've also tried it with ACON, but my DSP/VST bridge doesn't work when I select ACON (I get silence). So I coudn't test that.
Christian-W. Budde's Winamp bridge (now he calls it Winamp VST Host) ?

Then you have still two free alternatives:

1) Get this free xlutop DSPtoVST wrapper (link see one of my earlier posts)
Then you can use the DSP side by side with the VST version in every audio editor that supports VST plugins !

2) You can use the free VB FX-4 DX rack:
http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/us ... dxrack.htm
http://vincent.burel.free.fr/download/f ... llDemo.zip
(Winamp DSP version ! - only limitation it has only 4 instead of 16 DX slots)

here DX and VST versions of VB FX-4 DX rack:
http://vincent.burel.free.fr/download/F ... ck1005.zip

And then load the DX version of Acon chainer with VB FX-4 !

Same version as before, but now sample rate is displayed in right top corner of the main window (since I still don't trust this):
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 10-71A.dll

I've now tried FFX-4, and with that I'm getting a slightly bigger difference, but still just at -78 dB (over 70 dB below the actual audio level), so that still appears to be only a rounding issue.

Since some of you have reported seeing a difference AGC behavior as well in the VST version: Could anyone who DOES see this problem use ONLY the AGC, at a lot speed, and check if there's a difference in response speed? (If I recall correctly someone mentioned this earlier). Then please check the new frequency value in the main window... And let me know if it responds slower or faster.

Added new presets:
- O-84 (my own preset, from earlier in this thread)
- Gtxx 6_10 (waiting for permission and name...)
- Updated SuperH's AAC+ preset
No further changes.

Remaining to-do's:
- VST audio issue
- Add more presets (Bojcha's Addiction, maybe ncsflorida's country preset), and update my own existing presets (FM Soft must be softer I think, among others. And check amount of highs).
- Reduce CPU usage for Loudness (currently 23% higher than in v5.02!). I need to simplify the voice vibrations filter, which accounts for 2/3rds of this increase (the rest is the strict bass clipping, which might also be slightly optimized).

Hey hans, great update!

I found one slight problem:
In the latest posted version (510-72), when I calibrate the 20 Hz frequency signal strength in the FM Calibration window, and I set it to 0, it still produces sound, and even causes the stereo/tuned indicators to flicker on my fm receiver. I'm not sure about previous versions, since I didn't calibrate in a while.

I found a few minor issues:

1. There was a highs clipper at the start of the processing that only worked part of the time. This may have caused continuous vibrations in loud highs, and may have disturbed voice vibration detection when very loud highs are present (which is a rare combination).

This effect was not very big because there was a 2nd highs clipping filter a bit further in the chain. I fixed the 1st filter and removed the 2nd (useless, and takes up some CPU, about 1-2% of the total Loudness filter).

2. I noticed that one of the bass clipping steps was ALWAYS using the (more CPU intensive) 'very strict' method. However, removing that caused some (very soft, but still) vibrating highs, so I decided to leave it there anyway (it's 2% of the total Loudness processing, so the difference in overall performance is negligible).

(Actually I'm not really sure what I should do here. Lowering the bass clip level from 90% to 88% seems to compensate most of this effect, so I might switch to the less-CPU-intensive version after all.)

New build is running now, effect on the sound is very small - but I do see (when I measure it) that there are slightly more highs. Which makes sense given issue #1.

Build is running now, effect is very very very small.

I compared it against version 4.22 - no difference.

There are some filtering issues at very low frequencies (like 20 Hz); if the difference between the 20 and 40 Hz slider gets smaller those issues get less prominent (and if they are equal they are gone).

Note that you should NEVER set these sliders at 0, because normal sound may get pushed outside the valid area (-75 kHz .. +75 kHz on the transmitter), and hence cause dropouts (and worse: Disturbances on stations on neighboring frequencies!). Do not use this filter to filter out lows or anything! Only compensate for sound card/cable/transmitter offsets!

- Fixed a highs clipping issue in Loudness (see 2 posts ago)
- Some CPU load reductions (very little, Loudness is about 2% lighter than before).
Effect on the sound is very small.
