Now with this Beta, everything is fine, choppy sound is gone!

But the CPU-Load of the Exciter is intense! (increases from ~40% to ~75% on my machine, running a full FM preset with MPX-out)

Edit: soundwise, the exciter unfortunately doesn't sound good on snare-drums or similar sounds  Sounds like cheap resampler artifacts or something like that...

So this version is now really much better. I have no gaps and problems with it, as opposed to the 11 version.

But something else struck me. In the 09 version there was meaningful overtones for some sounds. I have here an example in which in the 09 version, the strings have been completed properly. With the current version, however, nothing is completed. It simply lacks the whole information. If you want I can send you via PM these files. However, the completion now works better on percussion instruments. Sometimes, there are now some mp3 artifacts.

Edited: One more question: At what frequency the harmonics are completed? I had here a try with 11025 Hz. But no predictions were made in this file.
please send me that file. What I heard is much more reconstruction, with less audible distortion, but indeed some mp3-ish effects. Which to me sound much better than that distortion.

Reconstruction should work above around 8000 Hz.

Hm, I just checked the sound with a cheap headphone (instead of my monitor speakers in my office) and the MP3-like artfiacts are much more noticeable now. Will continue with this tomorrow... :(

@near05: Still interested in that sample where some overtones are no longer generated as you mentioned. In version 09 I heard a lot of annoying tones that were generated but shouldn't be, and they are gone in this last version. Of course it could be that we don't agree on which tones should or shouldn't be there! :)

On headphones I think I prefer 09. On speakers I prefer 11. Ugh.

Edit: This probably explains why the old version sounded better when I make it work from 3700 Hz on telephone calls! That was very clear also on speakers.

On my headphone in my office I can confirm the same thing: On headphone BETA009 sounds better, on my speakers 012 sounds better. Ugh.

It`s up to the sensitivity of the speakers.
headphones have very small speakers and sensitivity is much higher.
big speakers have small sensitivity, so may be this is the difference .
Other thing is that normal speakers mostly have multicoil structure, so different coils reacts to different frequency ranges...

The speakers will make a difference ...
You can think of a slider that allows to adjust the sound between the sound of the Beta9 and 12th? To adjust to a value of compromise?
Or place an option, Big Speaker and other small speakers :)

Hallo Hans,

Exciter
