Quote: Hi Hans,
If certain frequencies get too loud the multiband compressor will still kick in (if it didn't the Loudness filter would work less good). But it does indeed not do too much with these settings.
Congratulation for the new look and the improvement of the Stereo Tool, I have tried to select FM Transmitter Europe Stereo and set the Pre Amp to 1 and Loudness to 4, I am getting a loud and much better sound, but i could see no movements in the multiband compressor colored indications. I just wondered if this is normal, and is the multiband compressor functioning now with the reduction of the pre Amp signal? Kind reagrds, Abdul |

Update is available, same link as before: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... _BETA2.exe Changes: - Configure button should work now - Repeated presets are gone - If a different window is activated after selecing a preset, the preset pulldown menu is no longer selected - so returning to the main window does not cause changes in settings and disruptions of the audio anymore. - After a pause of 1 second (I'll make this configurable later, didn't have time for it now...) all buffers are flushed. So if playback resumes the end of the previous song is replaced by silence. - Text at the right of the screen should look a bit better (mainly because I rephrased the text) - Most output sliders are now changed such that they move simultaneously. Tomorrow (probably) I'll add a configuration slider to enable setting a delay that's identical to the Winamp buffer size so everything is displayed simultaneously with the matching sounds. |

Quote: Thanks for the clarification Hans,
You can probably get a similar sound if you start with the FM Transmitter preset (not Loud), and increase the Loudness. And then the multiband compressor is working a lot harder - which might be better if you need more volume levelling than when you set the volume to 1.Abdul Actually, these results point at the fact that the multiband compressor either sounds bad or isn't configured correctly (probably the latter). |

That's what the space between "Bypass" and "CPU Quality, Latency" is for Will add that - probably - tonight. |

That is right, but i don't know Hans, may be i am wrong, as i also get a better sound when disabling the Loudness or setting it to 1 and increasing the Pre limiter to 1.5, although the sound level is lowered but it is clearer, and it sounds just like when i set the Pre Amp to 1 and the loudness to 4 but of course with lower sound level. It seems that the sound may be gets over compressed when the multiband compressor is working hard and the Loudness is set to higher value. Regards, Abdul |

Regards, Abdul I think the best solution here - to get both the Loudness and gain control, which is lost when setting Pre Amp so low - would be to change the settings in the Pre Limiter. Try lowering the 'soft limit' values to - say - half of what they are now. |

Do you mean the lowpass filter? Seems to be working fine here... What's happening?
