with the latest beta
1 sounds much fuller and has more bass than 2. But also weird artifacts, mainly in 1. So this is BETA023? Stand alone or DSP? Or 022A VST? And 1 is Slow FIR? Also, in a spectrum recording 2 has less bass - but this filter should not affect bass at all.

I've tried subtracting the two and I hear a quite band 'bumping' sound in the bass, are you using a lower quality setting? Your results are completely different from mine (and I've tested with your preset), so there must be something in your settings that I'm missing.

Could you run the following audio through it and record the result? (And please indicate which is which)

I would also be interested in a recording of this with ONLY the Phase Equalizer enabled, everything else off. (Actually, if they are different that would suffice).


Edit: Just tested the VST version, also no real difference.

WOW, sound is so subjective.
Used last beta standalone, quality slider is not at full otherwise I couldn't record. (but used same quality settings for both recordings)

1 is optimized phase
2 is slow FIR


For me 2 sounds better
1 has more bass but also more weird artifacts. I'll do this same measurement tonight, in both DSP and VST the result is identical, I would expect the same from the stand alone version...

You do realise you can change almost anything by text editing the preset file right ?

Slow fir top, optimized bottom. They look and sound very much alike (given the pretty loud hiss level and 50 Hz hum I wonder what's happening?? Some bad analog cable?).

Yes, but i must calculate it all because it`s with different type of save parameter. Not in DB`s
More difficult . Thanks for reminding me . Think it`s not that hard to make on slider .


Also i try but when i click on the Slider after loading the new setting , I got EXEPTION and program don`t want to continue . I close the window but it pops again.

- Advanced Clipper: ABDP: "Smooth Slide" slider added to make transition between deep bass (clipped) and less deep bass smoother. There used to be a drop upto the 2nd configured bass frequency, with this switch enabled the drop is smoothed (maximum at 1st configured bass freq, gone at 2nd). Result: Warmer, more open, less 'restrained' sound. But probably also a bit more intermodulation distortion. (which might be fixable by changing the frequencies in the preset a bit). (*)
- Advanced Clipper: ABDP: Added extra step that detects intermodulation distortion from bass in voices and reduces it.
- Advanced Clipper: Highs Gap Protection caused a jump in the spectrum between 3.5-3.8 kHz for loud highs. This is now smoothed over a bigger area (2400-4800 Hz).
- Advanced Clipper: Highs Gap Protection: Now stricter than before. Slightly more IMD distortion in the highs but also better protection against volume drops caused by loud highs.
- Re-recorded 'This sound is processed by Stereo Tool' sample which gets played when unregistered features are used.
- Multiband - NAN Output while adjusting the band frequencies (probably something that's not new, ignoring for now...)

Ok, I've now also ran it through the stand alone version and there is really NO difference between the Slow FIR and optimized versions. And I have loaded the entire preset with IMPORT ALL. I'm giving up on this for now unless someone else can replicate this difference.

Note: To make the sound equal I've had to play the same piece of audio many times until all the meters (mainly AGC) settled, without that it DID sound different. When I play one version on the left channel and the other on the right I do hear some difference, but that's also there if I don't change the Phase Delay setting between Slow Fir and optimized.

I did find another bug: At sample rates different from 44.1 kHz the delay is different. So the compensation for sample rates must have an error. Will fix that tomorrow.

Haven't upgraded lately but did try this latest Beta. The low pass filter slider is adjustable but it makes no audible difference and the main screen shows that it stays at 15500 . The high pass reading does track on the main screen and audibly.

Thank you very much Hans for fixing these "bugs"

But smaller top section now moves the meter on top of the waveform viewer and makes the very short and very wide. If is not a pita I would prefer stretching the (so they are more detailed) and not totally change the gui .

There is an extra Lowpass enabled in the Transmitter section. Turn it OFF. And May be Hans must make it OFF by default because this is the second person asking/reporting for this.

Well the 50Hz could be there, and other little distortion because of HF.. Normally I don't record.

But when I look at the pictures of the waveform I actually see (small) differences.

But it could be that my mind is messing with what I hear versus what it.actually does (sees)
