Ok, there were 2 things wrong with bass at 4096! And I fixed only one ![]() The other is now fixed as well, but right now bass shaping doesn't work at latency 4096. I'll post a new version when that's fixed. In short, I think you should expect the clarity that you're used to at 4096 combined with the bass quality from 1024. (What was wrong was a form of bass post ringing, although it didn't sound like that at all). |

How much difference is expected in highs content between beta 008 and beta 011? I find beta 011 quite dull - as in less highs? Currently trying out neta 009... EDIT: I had De-clipper disabled till beta 008 - somehow had the feeling keeping it disabled sounded tad brighter. Now in beta 011, I percieve enabling de-clipper as better. Just first impression. |

New version is building now... To me it sounds a lot better @ 4096 (no changes at other latencies). I have also adjusted "Bass shape" to behave the same at all latency settings (to get the same behavior as before @ 2048, you need to double the old value; no change @ 4096). CPU load is a bit higher, I have not yet tried to reduce it yet. There's also a new slider that can be used to choose between very clean clipping or slightly more "smoothing" of sounds in time (pre and post ringing), giving a louder sound with less spikes (so you can reduce Strictness further!). Because the new improved filtering @ 4096 already leads to a drop of about 0.2 dB and 0.3 dB louder spike levels, I've set it to 25% by default which results in a signal that's very similar to what the previous versions had. |

BETA011: Improved bass clarity (potentially other frequencies as well) at latency 4096. CPU load is higher than before at 4096, I'll look into that later. Added Time smoothing slider. Made Bass shape behavior the same at all frequencies, good value seems to be 0.50/160 Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 31-011.exe DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 31-011.exe VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 31-011.dll |
