another vote for the AGC section provide an option to keep channels separate (unlinked). In one setting where the feed into stereo tool comes from a sound board with a left and right pot, I find operators will often have a few db difference between channels. If you look at the processing going on, the channel that is coming in hotter will have much more processing and clipping and sound unbalanced on the output.

Hans, I'm bumping this per our FB chat the other day. I feel an autobalance module would be a great addition to correct for poorly mastered or transferred recordings. This could be especially helpful for folks who rip from vinyl or other analog sources. I know the Omnia.9 includes a feature that fixes off-balanced audio. It helps a lot with sources that should be mono to be truly mono as well, such as spoken word or other older recordings, so they don't make the stereo enhancers (if used) go nuts and do more or extra work, when they shouldn't.

Thanks!

I can tell you from practical experience that ST "automatically" corrects for imbalances in L v. R channel input. In setting up our new LPFM station, we have had wiring issues to where there were intermittent 'dropouts' from one channel. I could hear the imbalance before ST, but over the air, after ST, you could only hear a faint difference LvR in the most extreme cases, eg if the L channel were at say 10-20% of the R channel.

(I put the automatically in quotes because I don't believe I used any special settings to do this.)

Does anyone know of a standalone DSP host that can run the dsp_AutoBalance plugin? One that can take the input from a sound card, process with the DSP and then output to another sound device such as Virtual Audio Cable? I just want to use AutoBalance before Stereo Tool but without having to run it through Breakaway or Winamp first.

Thanks in advance :)
