A crash is pretty bad though - I'll have to check what's happening (ST should NEVER NEVER NEVER crash).

In direct VLC and Foobar OPUS stream play correctly.
I tested on some other PC and it plays :?

Never crash but still freezes when you set "Resampling quality" slider to the maximum.

Maybe it's problem only on this PC because on laptop ST plays OPUS stream via VLC but latency is same as mp3.
Is it possible to set lower latency for stream direct in ST?

this is private stream only for test - not 24h radio so it's offline most of time.
