Next version wil get rid of the last few causes of blocking threads! (Advanced/Composite clipper and if I manage to fix it, Delossifier Spectral Hole Filler).

Installed 8.01 BETA 006 on my PC. No crashes on startup.

First I had no sound when ST was enabled, only when set in Bypass. I had to set "Send to Winamp" to "De-emphasized version of FM output" before the sound did go through to my speakers.
FM Output is Off.
Fixed!

CPU usage on my system is about 40%, equal on both cores. I have a Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G540 @ 2.50GHz on this system, so a rather slow CPU.
Is this different from before? Note: CPU affinity doesn't work yet in the new design, so you could be getting somewhat different spread over cores - the total CPU load should be roughly the same as before though.
I really don't have any idea about that because I did not use this PC a lot before for testing ST. I remember that CPU usage used to be higher before though. Plus, now there are more possibilities of the setting enabled compared to before. But IMHO, 40% on such a weak processor soes not seem too high to me. I will test it on my broadcast server one of these days. There I can compare to the usage of the 8.0 release version. I will let you know what happens.

Hi Hans,

I have ST 8.01-BETA 007 running on my production server now. It is a VPS with a 6 cores XEON E5-2650 v2 @ 2.6GHz.

ST 8.01 BETA 007 takes about 14% CPU time.

ST 8.0 takes about 13% with the same settings, so about 1% less. It varies between 0.5% and 1.2% less (including the playout software itself in both cases, which takes about 0.5 to 1.2% of the CPU)

Which software use for playout and how is configured?
I never managed to get it working properly with my software under a VPS and as a experienced virtualisation user I was not able to get it working nor with vSphere nor with KVM and Xen.

But it works flawlessly on a physical machine - even on an Pentium-D's

I use mAirList as our radio and webstreams automation and playout system. For the radio station we use Stereo Tool and for the webstreams AudioProc, a much less sophisticated audio enhancer (Sorry Hans  ) but that one takes only abt. one percent of the CPU power, so we could easily run 50 different webstreams on one system together with the radio station.

mAirList is an extremely flexible, stable and robust automation system. The best there is IMHO and I can say that I tested nearly every radio automation system that exists. Check it out at https://www.mairlist.com/en/ . Torben, the developer of mAirList, also gives excellent support.

The last beta does not work with the vst plugin in audacity on windows. you can open the plugin itself, but if you want to play something the whole application crashs without any exception.

in the last beta you publish i can process some audio, but only the first time correctly. you can only hear changes on the UI, if you do the following:

start audacity, Open a music file, open stereotool, load you preset an change anything. now you can directly hear what you change. if the music file ends and you play it again, then the sound is like the last change in the plugin. if you change anything nothing seems to be happen on the output. in the UI you can see the changes (for example the diffence in the wave form). this also occurs to other sound files. it only works the first time you open audacity and play the first music in live mode. other VST plugins does not have this problem in audacity.

The Delossifier was a bottleneck for multicore-processing - should be fixed now.

Windows 32 bit:
Windows stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-008.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 01-008.exe
Windows VST 32 bit: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-008.dll

Known issues:
- Low Quality Low Latency monitoring (stand alone version) is disabled for now
- Generic plug-in (not posted) FM output to host doesn't work.
- Memory leaks on close

Can you check if the memory usage of the process exceeds 2 MB? There is a weird compiler bug that causes memory loss on close, I need to find a way around it.

Thanks! I think I have fixed this one (building a new version now to test).

Edit: Yup, fixed :)
