It's not a new issue but... under "Normal panel", input selection tab, even if input selection is disabled, if we change to "input without processing" changes in input signal remains.
Disabled its not suppose to work, right?

I don't understand what you mean? "Normal panel" = Normal Output? But I don't see how you disable Input anywhere?

Sound card -> Normal Output -> Input selection: if you choose "input without processing" you will get signal from the input, even if this function (Input selection) is disabled (grayed).

under xubuntu 16.04:

in bypass mode, there is a thread (?) running at 100%

you also need to look into when receiving "paint" messages from X. I get a blank screen in bypass when switching between workspaces. When moving the cursor around, it gets repainted.

Is that different from older versions? It might be something on your system (a virus scanner for example?).

By coicidence I found out that there is a gain difference between input and output, when all processing is switched off, pre and post levels set to 0dB.

Edit: Forgot about what I just said. It was the Amplification of the simple clipper that I overlooked. It was set to 40%.

It starts here in under half a second. But now you're mentioning Ubuntu - I suppose that's an unrelated remark? Someone has reported that one thread is apparently using 100% of the CPU on Linux, which would definitely explain something like this.
